- We have had approval approval and no doubt there will be some
surprises before it gets built. The Woolwich station has been added back into the plans and with Maryland
also being approved it means that Selective Door Opening will be used. This means that for some stations such as Hanwell
that no platform extension work needs to be performed
- So Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell and Southall are
currently all on the map but westwards the services will be to Maidenhead or
Heathrow. Whilst to the east Shenfield and Abbey Wood. So that is a big
improvement. However Acton Main Line does not appear to be in the equation. If
the Greenford Rocket turns into a Shuttle from Greenford to West Ealing then
what will happen to Acton Main Line passengers. Logic says it should be
included.
- Now there is discussion about extending out to Reading.
- So we are talking about Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road and the City
being within 30 minutes from Southall.
- Substantial design work to include changes that affect locals have been
incorporated into the Bills additional provisions. A new construction method
for Hanwell was included. The Selective Door Opening option has also been
included because of a short station at Maryland. The SDO option could open up
great flexibility.
- The need for a plan to re-build Ealing Broadway
into a larger transport interchange needs to be a part of this. The problem is
that no one wants ownership or rather the cost of this. Everyone is waiting
for this problem to be solved later on rather than now.
- Longer trains with overhead electric would just currently stop at Ealing,
Hayes and Heathrow this side of Paddington. Each would have a capacity of 1500
passengers in 10 carriages split into 2 5 car units.
- We will bring the areas interests forward to the people responsible.
- What we need is an Ealing Crossrail Strategy that incorporates Bus/Rail
interchanges with Bus stations effectively at both Southall and Ealing
Broadway.
- Se more details on the Crossrail
website.
